Coma are Marius Bubat and Georg Conrad, both in their mid twenties. They are the long awaited rush of fresh air in the streets of cologne and in the clubs worldwide. They combine pop and rave, techno and rock in a very unique, subtle and elegant way. Coma are new rave and old-school techno, 80s pop and 2k-modernity in a deep hug. Coma gives the right answer to the wrong hypes and new influences, voices and feelings to electronic dance music from Germany. Their highly acclaimed breakthrough was in November 2007 @ Total Confusion in Cologne where they convinced with a brilliant live show between two DJ-Sets. It was meant to be one of the best live gigs ever since the party started in July 1998. (Tobias Thomas, February 2008)Their debut 12“ on Firm (Kompakt) is played on heavy rotation by German Techno DJs like Tobias Thomas, Sascha Funke and Superpitcher. Live on stage Marius and Georg appear with laptop, guitar, synthesizer and microphone. They found their individual way to break the barriers between club culture and live concerts, techno and pop. With their likeable naive performance they know intuitionally how to make people leave with a smile on their faces
After their tremendously popular “Famous EP” from earlier this year – which with the Erlend Oye-sampled “Raindrops” featured one of the secret weapons of this rainy summer’s festival season – Cologne’s most lovely hotspurs are back with a bang! “Gravity” perfectly captures the raw energy of their live set; highly infective staccato bass lines and a thrilling storytelling characterize this class “A” stomper. The flipside tracks operate on a deeper level. “Total DLY” sounds like homage to fellow Colonian.
The Modernist with it’s jumpy yet elegant chord patterns while the lullaby-ish “Fiction” is the perfect end-of-the-night track complete with a tender vocoder chorus and all. What sets COMA apart from most of their competition out there is their capability of creating emotive, highly recognizable music that is as much pop as it is.
Le Galaxie’s joyous, ceiling-melting live shows paved the blazing neon trail to the critically acclaimed debut album, 2011’s Laserdisc Nights 2, voted Entertainment.ie’s #1 Irish album of the year.
